S.S. Unicorn

Cardboard Boat Regatta

Quail Creek Bank participated in the 6th Annual Edmond Park and Recreation Cardboard Boat Regatta on Saturday, August 27th at Edmond Park/Lake Arcadia.   There were four categories of races: Adult, Corporate, Teen and Youth. A total of 15 boats entered this year with designs ranging from Dr. Who to Nemo and Dory. QCB’s boat was rowed by team members, Ofi, Carole J., Cori and Lauren M.  Many spectators attended and the cheer squad for QCB won our team the “Best Team Spirit” award. Our boat, the SS UNICORN, didn’t stop believing. Even after tipping over, we got back in and made our best effort to finish the race, placing 3rd out of the three corporate teams.

Lots of love for team Unicorn. “Still Believing” was painted on the bottom of our boat, and this was definitely our motivation. One spectator told us that one might find a picture of us in the dictionary next to the word, persistence. Following the races, there was a demolition of boats whose entrants didn’t mind their destruction, which was loads of fun! Cori braved the demo of SS UNICORN with her kids, Mason and Peyton, along with Noah Griffith (James and Karrie’s son).  Looking forward to next year!!!
